Use Ribbon to Stretch Your Jewelry $~ Tutorial

Just a quick post and tutorial for you all. I am working diligintly to finish de-cluttering my ENTIRE house by tomorrow to meet the "imaging the impossibilities" challenge deadline. I can't beleive how much I have accomplished! Even with sick boys and a sick self =a total of 3 ear infections, 4 pink-eyes, and 15 days (YES fifteen) of coughing-all-night kids.

As some of you may already know, I am a Premier Designs Jewelry Lady. I wanted to take a minute to share with you one of my favorite "tricks." I absolutely LOVE this technique as it gets me so excited for spring and changing colors and leaves (I know its a tad early... but a girl's gotta have something to look forward to).

I call this the ribbon trick. There are so many different looks you can acheive and change up. This is a fabulous way to stretch your dollar by giving a new look to jewels you already own! PLUS, ribbon is super cheap (I buy the .97 rolls of 5/8" or 1/2" at Wal-Mart)

I was going to create a video tutorial, however, I'm on the verge of losing my voice, so I've included a link to one on YouTube (why re-invent the wheel eh?).

You can check out this video HERE, made by an amazing Premier Designs Jewelery Lady. Her ribbon trick has a slight variation in that it doesn't have a bow, but a knot instead AND it includes a brooch/pin.
Nonetheless, ENJOY!
Please feel free to contact me with questions!
1. Place ribbon around the back of your neck and measure down to your mid chest.

2. Add about 4 inches (to make a bow, omit if you a just making a knot), then DOUBLE that length.

3. Take the tw ends and tie a knot leaving about a 4 inch tail,

4. Tie the tail into a bow.

5. Open up the loop you have created and lay it on a flat surface.

6. Double a long necklace (you'll see variations of this later) and overlap the ribbon as shown.

7. Grab the ribbon in the center of the circle with one hand and the ribbon outside with the other. Place the doubled ribbon over your neck and adjust the necklace accordingly!

8. Ka-CHing! Finished result. The necklace shown is Lady Fair (Premier Designs) and measures 62".

Here is the result if I were to triple (rather than double) the necklace in step 6 and lay it over the ribbon

The result of quadrupling (instead of doubling) the necklace in step 6

I hope you have fun creating your own ribbon necklace! Imagine the possibilities! I will follow up later in the week with even MORE variations on the ribbon trick!

Be Blessed,
~Misty
